The 25th Swan: Film Screening at MCASD

After 15 years in San Diego, artist, teacher and founder/front woman of Baby Bushka, Natasha Kozaily, will be making her moves to the wild coasts of Cornwall. But, before she goes, she will be coming to MCASD on August 1st for a special evening of story and song with violinist Batya-MacAdam Somer.  This event will feature a screening of her short film The 25th Swan, which is a celebration of women that make, angels that dance, and the power of beauty, art, poetry and music to save us.

Sädesärla at Athenaeum Music & Arts Library

Sädesärla is a world fusion duo project presenting original compositions and arrangements of folk music from Sweden, Thailand, and beyond with Christopher Adler on khaen, the bamboo free-reed mouth organ from Laos and Northeast Thailand, and Batya MacAdam-Somer on violin, viola, and voice.

Justin is pleased to announce and celebrate the release of his second album as a leader, Almost Familiar, here at Lou Lou’s! Joining him will be the same musicians you hear on the record; Batya MacAdam-Somer (Violin), Bradley Nash & Travis Klein (Flutes), Paul Castelluzzo (Guitar), Ed Kornhauser (Piano/Organ), Sean Hicke (Bass), and Steve Haney (Percussion). Come join the party, hear Almost Familiar LIVE, and immerse yourself in melodies and grooves that will make you feel déjà vu.

Handel Messiah with Bach Collegium San Diego

Handel’s great oratorio Messiah springs to life by way of the fruitful collaboration of Charles Jennens’ carefully conceived libretto and Handel’s supreme skill as a composer of the theatre. BCSD’s performance of Messiah, delivered by a dynamic cast in the manner of Handel’s dramatic operas, has become one of its crown jewels.
